History

KAOS Custom Bikes was established in 2004 by Andrew Oosterweghel, and continues to thrive as an independent bike shop under the same ownership. With a background as a technician and workshop manager for both Honda and BMW, Andrew is also a highly skilled bicycle mechanic and wheel builder. His uncompromising attention to detail and deep knowledge of the bicycle industry, a long history of riding and racing, and a passion for custom bike and wheel building gives his customers an unparalleled level of service and expert advice.

Andrew continues to run the workshop full time so you can be assured that every repair, service and build is carried out to his famously exacting standards. Customers regularly bring their bikes from interstate and internationally to have them serviced at KAOS.

Workshop & Servicing

Ours is not the average bike workshop, and we love to specialise in the jobs that others can't do. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, specialised knowledge and uncompromising standards of service and care. All of this means you get the best possible work done when you leave your bike with us. We also have an exhaustive selection of parts and accessories and regularly supply customers and other bike shops with hard to find items.

We take your safety seriously and offer free safety checks for bicycles.

Every bike we service is thoroughly checked over by an experienced mechanic and repairs are carried out to the highest standard so you can get on with enjoying your riding. Bikes are assessed when they arrive and we stay in touch to ensure there are no surprises.

Custom Bikes & Wheels

Our workshop is fully equipped with the tools, parts and expertise to custom build the bike of your dreams, from restoring your vintage steel bike to the latest carbon frame road bike. We offer custom frame and fork painting through our friends at Paint My Bike, powder coating and custom vinyl stickers. We also have a large range of coloured titanium spokes and alloy nipples to perfectly finish your custom build.

Wheels

At KAOS Custom Bikes we build hundreds of pairs of custom wheels every year for everyone including enthusiastic weekend riders, MTB champions and Tour de France winners. Every set is hand built ensuring strength, reliability and above all, performance. Our wheels are lighter, faster, stiffer and more reliable than most factory built wheels on the market, often at a fraction of the cost.

Our workshop offers free appraisals of your existing wheels as well as cost effective repairs including replacing broken spokes, hub servicing and truing.

If we can't fix it, we won't charge you.

We have a large selection of rims, hubs and spokes for you to choose from, and are equally happy to build wheels from your existing components.
